After meeting with Dr. James Andrews, it has been determined that San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (elbow) has a strained elbow and not a tear. Dr. Andrews recommended that Cueto rest for six weeks. Initial reports had suggested that Cueto may have had to have Tommy John surgery, which would have cost him one to two years on the sideline, so it’s a relief that he may be able to throw again this season if everything feels right in six weeks. Andrew Suarez will continue to fill in for Cueto and has pitched well in three starts. Cueto was pitching great this season with a 0.84 ERA and three wins in five starts.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
