John Metchie III A Full Participant In Phase 1 Of Offseason Program
2 years agoHouston Texans general manager Nick Caserio said that wide receiver John Metchie III (illness) was a full participant in Phase 1 of the team's offseason program. Metchie didn't play at all last year due to Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, but he's trending in the right direction to get back on the field for the 2023 regular season. We'll keep a close eye on the 22-year-old's progress as training camp in July approaches, but with Brandin Cooks now out of the picture in Houston, Metchie will have an opportunity to carve out a role for the Texans while taking passes from rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Metchie will be battling for targets among Robert Woods, Nico Collins and Noah Brown. He's a name to monitor, but he'll likely be left to the waiver wire to begin the season in standard 12-team leagues.
