Joey Bart Won't Need Surgery
5 years agoUpdating a previous report, San Francisco Giants catching prospect Joey Bart (thumb) was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of his thumb, which will not require surgery. He's expected to be recovered in four to six weeks, so he'll be ready in plenty of time for spring training in 2020. Bart was injured while playing in the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old is the Giants top prospect and No. 19 overall in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. While he probably won't make the big league roster out of spring training next year, there's a good bet we'll see him make his major league debut later in the season if he stays healthy.
