Jimmy Nelson Won't Return in 2018
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson (shoulder) will not pitch in the majors this year, according to general manager David Stearns. The plan is for Nelson to go to Arizona soon to pitch to hitters in simulated games. Then the team hopes he can pitch in at least one instructional league game before going home for the winter. Nelson will have missed all of the 2018 season after going 12-6 with a 3.49 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and career-high 10.2 K/9 over 29 starts in 2017. The right-hander will be a late-round sleeper pick for 2019.
