Jimmy Garoppolo Has New High-Ankle Sprain
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has a new high-ankle sprain and will have a timetable of four to six weeks. Surgery remains an option. If Garoppolo goes under the knife, he would likely be out for the rest of the season. He can probably be dropped in 12-team leagues that allow only one quarterback in starting lineups. Nick Mullens went 18-for-25 for 238 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Garoppolo last week and will take over under center, starting in Week 9 against the Packers on Thursday night. The 25-year-old should be viewed as a low-end QB2 streamer in superflex leagues for however long Garoppolo is sidelined.
