Jeurys Familia Heads To The Disabled List
7 years agoNew York Mets closer Jeurys Familia was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 7, with a sore right shoulder. We don’t know when the injury occurred, but perhaps it arose during his struggles on Wednesday. As of now, we don’t have any indication of how long he might be sidelined for. It’s anyone’s guess who will be the closer now, but the comfortable bet is probably either Robert Gsellman or Anthony Swarzak. However, given manager Mickey Callaway’s previous proclamation of using a mix of relievers in the ninth inning to play the matchups, we could end up seeing a healthy dose of variety to close things out for the Mets. Gsellman should be your first choice off the waiver wire, though.
