Jean Segura Lands On Fan Vote For Final All-Star Spot
6 years agoSeattle Mariners shortstop Jean Segura will need help from the fans if he hopes to represent the Mariners at the All-Star game this season. Segura is on the final fan ballot to make the All-Star team and certainly deserves the consideration. Segura has been a consistent hit-machine all season long and currently in second in all of baseball with 115 hits. He has hit .311 in April, .382 in May and .330 in June and is hitting .333 with runners in scoring position this season. There are few infielders in the game that can steal bases (14) and hit for power (.470 slugging percentage) like Segura. He has ignited an improved Mariners offense this season with two triples, 24 doubles, seven home runs and 61 runs scored hitting at the top of the lineup. He may not get the votes when the ballot's close for the final spot but there is little doubt Segura has played like an All-Star to this point in the season.
