James Conner Suffers Ankle Sprain
4 years agoUpdating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in the Monday night win over the Giants and will be examined on Tuesday. According to a source, the Steelers are "optimistic for a timely return." It's still a disappointing start for a player that missed six games due to injury in 2019. Conner has yet to play a full season in his three years and could miss some time early this season. He had just six carries for nine yards and two catches for eight yards before leaving with his injury. Benny Snell Jr. stepped in and took over, taking his 19 carries for 113 yards on the ground. With Conner potentially missing multiple weeks, Snell will be a popular waiver wire target heading into Week 2 in a potent Steelers offense with Big Ben back under center.
