Jake Fraley Hitting Out Of Cleanup Spot Thursday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley is hitting out of the cleanup spot on Thursday as he takes on Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Roansy Contreras. While it's not a surprise to see Fraley move up the lineup against a right-handed starter, this is his first start out of the cleanup spot this season as he's mostly hit out of the three-hole versus righties. The 27-year-old has struggled of late, going hitless in each of his last four games, bringing his season average to just .224 with one home run and a .677 OPS across 60 trips to the plate. He has drawn a walk in 16.2% of his plate appearances on the season but also ranks in the 11th percentile in hard-hit rate as he looks to get straightened out Thursday evening.
