Jake Arrieta’s Opening Day Status Uncertain
After finally signing with the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, former Cy Young winning starting pitcher Jake Arrieta may not be ready to go come Opening Day. The 32-year-old’s signing came quite late, which means he may need additional time to get into season shape. Arrieta, who went 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA en route to the 2015 Cy Young Award, spent part of the last five seasons with the Cubs, winning a World Series. Now with the Phillies, he appears set to be just behind ace Aaron Nola in the starting rotation as the Phillies look to bounce back following a rough 2017 season.
