Jac Caglianone in the Six-Hole in MLB Debut
Jac Caglianone is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth in his major-league debut on Tuesday in St. Louis against the Cardinals and right-hander Andre Pallante. Caglianone arrives to much fanfare as MLB Pipeline's 10th overall prospect in all of baseball. The 22-year-old left-handed slugger was taken sixth overall last year out of Florida and was hitting a combined .322/.389/.593 with a .982 OPS, 15 long balls, 56 RBI, 41 runs scored and two stolen bases in 50 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha before his call-up. Caglianone, who can also play the outfield, is expected to see most of his playing time in KC in right field initially, but he can also work in at DH and first base. There's elite power and athleticism here, making Caglianone a must-roster player in all fantasy leagues right away.
