Although Harrison Burton delivered the Wood Brothers' 100th win in last weekend's Daytona 500, don't expect Burton to repeat the feat in this evening's Southern 500. Although Burton did finish sixth in the 2023 spring race at Darlington, that was Burton's only ever top ten finish on an unrestricted intermediate track. While it's likely that Ford will increase their investment into the Wood Brothers for the playoffs particularly since Stewart-Haas Racing is shutting down and none of their drivers are likely to advance, Burton probably still isn't fast enough to take advantage of that. Despite the win, Burton ranks last in both overall points and speed percentile among full-time drivers in the 2024 season and only qualified 24th for today's race. Even with increased Ford support, the odds of Burton earning a good finish are unlikely.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
