Gregory Soto Earns Ninth Save Of Season Monday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto picked up his ninth save of the season in Monday's 7-5 win over the Twins. Soto came in to pitch the ninth inning with a two-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single, but then got a strikeout and two flyouts to end the game. The 27-year-old has now converted nine of 10 save opportunities this season to go with a 2.16 ERA, 14 strikeouts, and eight walks in 16 2/3 innings pitched. The walks are still high overall, but Soto has not allowed a free baserunner in his last seven appearances and seems like a solid fantasy closer option.
