Giants, Saquon Barkley Can't Agree On Contract Extension
1 year agoThe New York Giants and running back Saquon Barkley could not agree on a contract extension before Monday's deadline. Talks went down to the wire and best efforts were made on both sides to strike a compromise, but Barkley will now play the 2023 season on the franchise tag. Like Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, there's a good chance that we won't see Barkley at training camp now. The 26-year-old will play on a one-year, $10.1 million deal in 2023. There's a chance that Barkley could stretch his holdout into the regular season, which makes drafting him as a high-end RB1 in fantasy more risky now. He's had his share of injuries over the years as well, although is fantasy stock is up after his best season last year since his rookie campaign in 2018. If he's healthy and is available for Week 1 this year, Barkley should be considered a top-five fantasy back.
