Gary Sanchez Has Clutch Hit In Victory
7 years agoTaking on long-time nemesis Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros, the New York Yankees held a one-run lead through the first four innings of Wednesday night’s series finale. In the fifth, however, starter Luis Severino surrendered a two-run home run, putting the home team in a hole. The offense responded immediately, however, putting three runners on in the bottom of the fifth when catcher Gary Sanchez stepped up to the plate. Though quickly in an 0-2 hole, the All-Star managed to hit a key two-run single to right, putting the Yankees ahead for good. It was his only hit of the night, but the most important of the game.
