Garrett Whitlock Sharp In Spring Debut
2 years agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock (hip) looked good in his Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, tossing two hitless and scoreless innings while walking one and striking out three. The 26-year-old is making the transition to a full-time starting role this year for Boston, but he has been behind the other pitchers in camp after having hip surgery in the offseason. He will not be ready to take his first turn through the rotation to begin the year, but he should be ready by the middle of April. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Whitlock to be as dominant as he was in relief, but he should stick in the rotation all year long as long as he stays healthy.
