Frankie Montas Goes On Injured List
2 years agoThe New York Yankees placed right-hander Frankie Montas (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday. Montas' MRI exam showed only inflammation in his right shoulder, but he will be shut down from throwing for a couple of days. The issue is similar to the first time it cropped up this year when he was with the Oakland Athletics, and it cost him over two weeks. The 29-year-old received a cortisone shot and is hoping to make one more start before the regular season ends. Fantasy managers shouldn't be holding out hope that that happens. Expect Domingo German to take Montas' spot in the starting rotation the rest of the way. Montas has struggled since being acquired from the A's, going 1-3 with a 6.35 ERA (4.93 FIP), a 1.54 WHIP, 33 K's and 15 walks in 39 2/3 innings over eight starts in pinstripes.
