The Atlanta Falcons hired New Orleans Saints co-defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen as their new defensive coordinator on Friday. The 43-year-old Nielsen has spent the last six seasons as an assistant with the Saints, where he was the defensive line coach for all six years. He spent the first 15 years of his coaching career in college, always working as a defensive line coach before serving as a defensive coordinator in 2008-09 at Central Connecticut State. Nielsen will be replacing Dean Pees in Atlanta after the 73-year-old decided to retire for the third time in his career. While they were young on defense in 2022, they got better as the season progressed and allowed over 19 points just once in the final six games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
