2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers will activate running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) from Injured Reserve on Saturday to the active roster. Mitchell is expected to be active for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals for the first time since Week 12. Because of the long layoff, it's unclear exactly how much Mitchell will play this weekend, and he'll also be battling for backfield touches with Christian McCaffrey and rookie Jordan Mason. After leading San Fran's backfield in 2021, Mitchell has played in only four games this year and has 40 carries for 224 yards and no touchdowns while adding three receptions for seven yards. He'll continue to take a back seat to CMC heading into the postseason.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
