Elijah Mitchell Favoring Broken Finger
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Elijah Mitchell (finger) took handoffs and pitches during position drills in practice on Wednesday but didn't catch any passes and seemed to hold the football exclusively in his left hand. Mitchell broke a finger on his right hand in Week 10, had surgery and missed last week's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although he was limited in practice on Wednesday, his availability is still up in the air for Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings defense is missing most of their best run-stoppers this week and they've allowed 127 rushing yards per game (sixth-most in the NFL), so Mitchell will remain a strong RB2 if he's active. If he misses a second straight game, Jeff Wilson Jr. will be a plug-and-play RB2 for the second straight week.
