Eagles Plan To Release Darius Slay
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles are planning to release cornerback Darius Slay, according to sources. The release comes after the Eagles tried to restructure his contract for the upcoming season. The 32-year-old five-time Pro Bowler will attract heavy attention on the open market as the top cornerback available now. He's made the Pro Bowl in five out of the last six seasons with both the Eagles and Detroit Lions, and he was also a first-team All-Pro back in 2017 with Detroit. In his three seasons with the Eagles, Slay recorded 133 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, seven interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 29 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns. The Eagles re-signed cornerback James Bradberry to a big deal on Tuesday.
