Drew Smyly Yanked From The Rotation
6 years agoTexas Rangers left-handed starting pitcher Drew Smyly (ankle) will not make his next scheduled start against the Cincinnati Reds, as he has been moved to the bullpen. Smyly has been a disaster this season, posting a 1-5 record, 8.40 ERA and 1.91 WHIP across nine starts and 11 appearances in 45 innings. His biggest issue has been the walks, allowing 31, while yielding 55 hits and 15 home runs. There was little reason to use him in fantasy leagues before his demotion, but now he is completely without value. Joe Palumbo might be an option to come up and fill the rotation void, or the team could simply opt for an opener and bullpen game until a decision is made.
