Denzel Mims Has Opportunity In Jets Offense
4 years agoNew York Jets rookie wide receiver Denzel Mims, selected 59th overall in the second round, had 12 touchdowns on targets of 10-plus air yards last year, which was tied for third-most in college football. Jets receivers had only 10 catches of 20-plus air yards all year in 2019, tied for second-fewest. Robby Anderson had eight of those 10 catches, and he's now in Carolina, so there will be opportunity for Mims in 2020. Mims' 20 contested catches last year tied him for second-most in college football, but his 18 drops since 2018 also tied him for the most in that span. The opportunity alone, though, makes the 22-year-old worth a WR5/6 dice roll in deeper leagues in hopes that quarterback Sam Darnold will take a step forward with an improved offensive line in front of him.
