Denny Hamlin had a very strong day at Richmond Raceway on Sunday afternoon in the Cook Out 400, securing 18th career top-5 finish at the track while also finishing in 3rd- and 5th-place for the Stages. After the checkered flag waved, he walked out of Richmond with a runner-up finish to Chris Buescher and 49 points scored for the day. This combined with William Byron's struggles during the race vaults Denny into 2nd-place in the points standings with four races remaining in the regular season. He trails his teammate, Martin Truex, Jr., as Joe Gibbs Racing still occupies three of the top four spots (Christopher Bell sits in 4th-place). --Jordan McAbee
