Denard Span Hits First Home Run In M's Uniform
Seattle Mariners outfielder Denard Span hit his fifth home run of the season and his first with the Mariners in Wednesday night's 7-5 loss to the Astros. Span now has hits in each of his last three starts for his new team and is his hitting .286 in 28 at-bats since joining the Mariners via trade. The veteran outfielder does not possess a lot of power and is getting a bit long in the tooth, but he is a very capable hitter with an excellent eye at the plate (29 walks to 27 strikeouts). He should continue to see plenty of at-bats in the Mariners outfield rotation, but his fantasy value can be best utilized in deep, AL-only leagues right now.
