Defense Keeping Willi Castro in Minors
6 years agoDetroit Tigers infielder prospect Willi Castro remains in the minor leagues mostly to work on defense, according to GM Al Avila on Thursday. Avila stated that Castro has "been doing very well offensively. Our worry is defense." It's a common explanation when a hot prospect remains in the minors, but in Castro's case, he has committed 12 errors in 48 games at shortstop this season. That said, there is also the .335/.413/.505 slash line to consider. Castro may force his way to the big-league club eventually, but it would not appear that such a move is imminent. He's nonetheless a good player to have in dynasty and should start finding other fantasy rosters whenever he's called up.
