Deebo Samuel Sr. 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Finally Underrated With The Commanders
Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr., formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, will be his new team's clear WR2 in 2025. The biggest issue the Commanders had in 2024 was the lack of a viable WR2. Despite this, and despite their troubles along the offensive line, quarterback Jayden Daniels had a magnificent season. While many fantasy managers have a bad taste in their mouth after Samuel's poor 2024 performance, it's important to note that his production fell off massively after his bout of pneumonia. Of course, many fantasy managers don't view NFL players as humans, but anyone who's had pneumonia knows it takes quite a while to recover from it. Months, even. Samuel is thus a screaming value in redraft leagues right now, where he's often falling to the eighth round and later, as many managers have written him off as completely washed. Perhaps those that haven't had pneumonia, at least. It wouldn't be a big surprise if Samuel eclipsed 1,000 yards from scrimmage and scored at least eight touchdowns in 2025, so you should probably snag him in the seventh round just to be sure in home leagues. He'd be fine as a sixth-round pick as well.
