Darren Waller Hoping For Encore After 2019 Breakout
4 years agoLas Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller is looking to become more of a household name at the position after breaking out in 2019 as he continues to stay sober after addiction issues earlier in his career. Waller had 90 catches for 1,145 yards, three touchdowns and a Pro Bowl nod last year. He's been sober for three years after being addicted to opiates and cocaine. The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder is a converted receiver with great hands, and he was the team's top receiving threat a year ago. While Tyrell Williams is on Injured Reserve, the Raiders added impressive rookie receivers Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards and veteran tight end Jason Witten, so targets may be harder to come by in 2020. Running back Josh Jacobs expects to be much more involved as a pass-catcher, too. Regardless, Waller is a borderline top-five fantasy TE and should be started everywhere he's owned in Week 1 against the Panthers.
