Daniel Murphy Hits First Homer Of 2019
6 years agoColorado Rockies first baseman Daniel Murphy drilled a solo shot in the fourth inning on Saturday to give him his first round-tripper of the season. Murphy began the year on the injured list with a thumb injury, but since returning earlier this week, he's hit well. Murphy's rolling into Sunday on the back of a four-game hitting streak, he's knocked three extra-base hits in the last two days, and he's scored runs in all four games as the rest of the Colorado offense has started to come to life. The lingering concern for a player like Murphy is that the thumb injury could sap his power moving forward, so it's good to see him hitting with some pop for now. If he can keep up this kind of progress, he could return to the 20-homer plateau this year.
