Dak Prescott Has Leverage In Contract Talks
4 years agoDallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that quarterback Dak Prescott has leverage in contract talks after the team finished a disappointing 6-10 season, having won just four of 11 games with Prescott on the sidelines after his season-ending ankle injury. The Cowboys and Prescott's agent, Todd France, can resume long-term contract negotiations now that the season is over. Prescott played the 2020 season under the $31.4 million franchise tag when the two sides couldn't agree on an extension. Dallas offered him $110 million in guarantees, but the length of the contract was a sticking point. If the team uses the franchise tag on Prescott again, it would cost them $37.7 million for 2021. Prescott was on pace for a career season with 1,856 yards passing, nine touchdowns and four interceptions in five games before his injury. He'll be a high-end QB1 in fantasy drafts this fall, with or without a long-term extension.
