Christian Vazquez Continues To Hit
6 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez finished 3-for-4 with a run batted in during Wednesday's loss to Cleveland. The backstop logged two singles earlier in the game, before stroking an RBI-double to center in the eighth inning, which capped off a three-run inning for Boston. The 28-year-old is still hitting the ball harder than ever, with an average exit velocity of 89.3 mph, and 41% of his knocks are labeled as "Hard Hit." Vazquez also hosts a .289 average with a .420 expected slugging percentage, while also already setting a career-high in home runs with seven. Although he'll continue to split time with the defensive minded Sandy Leon, Vazquez should see most of the time behind the dish, and thus should continue inching up waiver wire lists at the catcher position and should definitely be added in two-catcher formats.
