Chris Sale Falls To 1-7
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale finished six innings, allowing four runs, on seven hits, while fanning 10 and walking just one in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Yankees. Sale breezed through the first two innings, including striking out the side in the first frame. Then the Yankees tagged the southpaw for three runs in the third, and a solo shot in the fifth was all the damage needed against him. It was great to see the 30-year-old reach double-digit strikeouts again, as Friday marked five of his last six starts that it occurred. Sale was relatively filthy, generating 21 swinging strikes, including 11 by his slider. Next, he'll get a juicy matchup, on Thursday, against the Kansas City Royals. He should be able to wrack up the strikeouts again, but hopefully he can get some more run support.
