Chris Sale Cleared To Throw
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow) had his follow-up exam with Dr. James Andrews, who administered a platelet-rich plasma injection into Sale's elbow in August, before Thanksgiving. The results were positive and Sale is now in the clear to start throwing with an eye on taking part in spring training next year. The left-hander last pitched on Aug. 13 before being shut down for the season with elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old is certainly an injury risk with a lot of miles (1,629 2/3 career innings) on his left arm, but he could bounce back to being an elite fantasy starter in 2020 if he can put his elbow issues in the past. Factor in the risk when deciding on Sale in the early rounds.
