Chris Godwin Expected To Return To Bucs
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't want impending free-agent wide receiver Chris Godwin going anywhere. The Buccaneers are expected to work on a long-term deal with Godwin, and the franchise tag is available as well. Godwin was quiet in the 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV with just two catches for nine yards, but he had 65 receptions for 840 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season in just 12 games in 2021. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady returning for another season, Godwin should continue to have WR2 upside for fantasy managers if he returns either on a long-term extension or the franchise tag. In 14 games without Brady in 2019, Godwin had a career-high 86 catches for 1,333 yards and nine visits to the end zone.
