Chas McCormick Optioned To Triple-A
4 months agoHouston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday after a prolonged stretch of ineffectiveness at the plate, going 4-for-42 (.095) since July 31. For the season, McCormick was slashing .192/.256/.292 with a .245 wOBA and 57 wRC+. The 29-year-old will look to get back on track at Triple-A Sugar Land while veteran journeyman Ben Gamel will take over in right field, along with utilityman Mauricio Dubon and the recently acquired Jason Heyward. Gamel has been surprisingly productive since getting regular at-bats beginning on August 22, going 10-for-23 (.435) with a pair of doubles, two RBI, and four runs scored in seven games, collecting at least one hit in all six of those games in which started. If McCormick can find his groove again, perhaps he could be a factor for the Astros in the postseason, but for fantasy, his season is over.
