Charlie Morton Throws Bullpen Tuesday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton (elbow) threw a touch-and-feel bullpen on Tuesday with new catcher Sean Murphy. Morton exited his final start of last season after taking a comebacker off his elbow in Game 4 of the National League Division series against the Philadelphia Phillies, but it looks as though he'll be fine for spring training and the star of the 2023 season. He's entering his age-39 season this year after going 9-6 with a 4.34 ERA (4.26 FIP), 1.23 WHIP and 28.2 strikeout rate in 172 innings over 31 starts. Morton is no longer in his prime and could be in his last season before retirement, but he can still miss bats (10th in strikeouts in 2022).
