Charlie Morton's Next Start Scheduled For Next Wednesday
6 years agoHouston Astros starter Charlie Morton will have extended rest before he begins his second half and isn't scheduled to pitch until next Wednesday. With an off day coming next Monday, the Astros can afford to get their 34-year-old extra rest before the second half begins. After allowing two runs in two innings during his first All-Star appearance, Morton now looks to replicate his fantastic start to the season. The right-hander is 11-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 146 strikeouts through 112 1/3 innings pitched in what is turning into a career year. Morton didn't take a loss until June 3 this season and has struck out seven or more hitters in 12 of his 19 starts. Fantasy owners who think Morton may slow down can look to his 2017 second half numbers and rest easy. Morton actually got better as the season went along last season, going 8-4 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 14 second half starts. Morton should continue his success throughout the rest of the season.
