Casey Mize’s Struggles Continue
4 years agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize continued to struggle with his command on Saturday and allowed six runs on three walks and four hits — including two home runs. The rookie hurler's ERA ballooned to 8.53 through three spring appearances. Overall, he has an ugly K-BB of 7-9 through 6.1 innings. Mize was expected to break camp with the Tigers but, with spring training almost half over, he may be headed to the club's alternate training site to get his approach back in sync. Last season, he made seven starts and had a 6.99 ERA (7.50 xERA) and 13.5% barrel rate. Mize is currently ranked by Rotoballer as the seventh-best starting pitcher prospect for 2021 redraft leagues.
