Brian Gionta announced his retirement from the NHL following 16 career seasons with the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins. The former third-round pick (82nd overall) of the 1998 NHL Draft closes out his career with 595 points (291 goals, 304 assists) in 1,026 career games. Gionta, captain of the 2018 United States Olympic team, posted seven points (two goals, five assists) with the Bruins last season.
