Brewers Acquire Jake Bauers From Yankees
1 year agoThe Milwaukee Brewers acquired first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers from the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sanchez. Bauers' versatility in the outfield and at first base is nice, but he just hasn't done much offensively in his four major-league seasons to this point with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, Seattle Mariners and Yankees, slashing .211/.302/.361 with 39 home runs, 140 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 412 games played. In 84 games in pinstripes in 2023, he hit just .202 (49-for-242) with a career-high-tying 12 homers, 15 doubles, 30 RBI, three stolen bases and 28 runs scored in 272 plate appearances. The left-handed-hitting 28-year-old will attempt to win the majority of playing time at first base from Rowdy Tellez in Milwaukee in 2024.
