New York Yankees outfielder Brett Garnder hit his third home run of the season in the first game of a double-header on Wednesday, and all three of his hits have now been homers. Not much of a power hitter historically, Gardner’s 5.1% home run rate from last season shattered his previous career-high of 3.1%. Although probably unsustainable, that home run increase came with a career-high 46.4% pull-rate, a trend that has continued into this season so far and should allow Gardner to maintain an elevated home run rate, especially with the lefty-friendly short-porch in right field at Yankee Stadium. Fantasy players shouldn’t expect Gardner to rank among the league’s best power hitters, but he’s becoming a potentially cheap DFS option for fantasy players looking for a little pop and solid contact skills.--Sam Chinitz
