Brett Baty Going For Tests On His Thumb
2 years agoNew York Mets third base prospect Brett Baty (thumb) left Triple-A Syracuse's game early on Tuesday with right thumb soreness after a swing. He will get tests on his thumb done on Wednesday, so fantasy managers will want to check back then for more information. The 23-year-old nearly made the Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he could be dealing with a serious injury. Baty had surgery for a torn ligament in the same thumb last September, so if this is related, it could require an extended absence. The team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is still worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues, but this could be a setback for the promising young third baseman. In his first three games with Syracuse, Baty had gone 5-for-14 (.357) with a double, two home runs, five RBI, four runs and a steal.
