Brashard Smith 2025 Fantasy Football Output: Dark Horse League-Winner Potential
Brashard Smith fell all the way to the latter part of the seventh round in the 2025 NFL Draft. When it seemed that all hope was lost, he got a nuts landing spot. He'll compete with two backs for a role -- Isiah Pacheco, who looked awful last year after his return from his leg injury, and Kareem Hunt, who simply isn't very good, despite his fantasy relevance last season. Smith has elite receiving upside. In fact, it's the best in this year's RB class by a wide margin. The tape shows as much. He's a converted WR, and is still capable of running legitimate WR routes from the slot or out wide. In addition, he could be lethal running routes out of the backfield. He's also a good pass-protector, despite the bias against backs under 200 pounds as blockers. Smith's upside in PPR leagues could be tremendous if he ends up getting a big role. Don't expect to happen quickly, though -- Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is notoriously cautious and measured at working first-year players into his offense. Still, Smith's explosive-play ability and effectiveness in space could lead to him putting up big numbers in 2025. On a team such as the Chiefs, he should have a great run in the last six or seven games of the season.
