Blue Jays Still In Play For Top Free Agents
4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays remain in contact with free-agent starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, catcher J.T. Realmuto and outfielder George Springer after failing to lure second baseman DJ LeMahieu away from the division-rival Yankees, according to sources. The Blue Jays were reportedly the runner-up for shortstop Francisco Lindor, who was traded to the Mets last week. Toronto signed lefty Robbie Ray earlier in the offseason, but a Bauer addition would significantly improve their starting rotation after he won the National League Cy Young award in 2020. Bauer is reportedly seeking $36-40 million per season on a five- or six-year deal. The Blue Jays and hitter-friendly Rogers Centre could be the worst possible landing spot for Bauer's fantasy value moving forward.
