Blue Jays Sign Yamaguchi Shun
5 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays signed Japanese pitcher Yamaguchi Shun to a two-year, $6.35 million deal on Friday. He'll receive $3.175 million per season and could make another $1.4 million per year in incentives if he maxes out at 170 innings. The Blue Jays will have another option for their starting rotation after adding Hyun-Jin Ryu, Tanner Roark and Chase Anderson this offseason. Shun had a tidy 2.91 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 188 strikeouts in 170 innings for the Yomiuri Giants in 2019. He'll be a fantasy wild card in deeper leagues if he wins a rotation spot in Toronto in the difficult American League East.
