The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement with their first-round pick in the 2018 MLB draft, infielder Jordan Groshans. While we don’t know the exact terms of the deal, the 12th overall draft slot has a value of about $4.3 million. Coming out of Magnolia, Texas, Groshans was drafted out of high school as a shortstop but has been discussed as a third baseman given the logjam of players at short in the organization. His advanced hitting approach for his age in high school was what attracted the Blue Jays, especially his ability to drive the ball to all fields. It will probably be a while before we see Groshans in the Major Leagues, but it sounds as though he has the talent to climb through the minor league ranks once he gets adjusted.--John SmithRead More News
