Blue Jays Placing Josh Donaldson On DL, Teoscar Hernandez Coming Up
7 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays placed third baseman Josh Donaldson (shoulder) on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation on Friday and recalled outfielder Teoscar Hernandez from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Donaldson also dealt with shoulder problems this spring, so it's a troubling development for the power hitter. However, it's unclear how long he'll be out, so stay tuned for more details. Donaldson was hitting .239 with three homers and nine RBI in 12 games before landing on the DL. Yangervis Solarte can fill in at the hot corner in the meantime, meanwhile Hernandez should see regular playing time with Randal Grichuk struggling and Kendrys Morales (hamstring) on the DL. Hernandez can provide a sneaky power-speed combination in deep mixed and AL-only leagues in the short term. Continue stashing Donaldson everywhere and hope his latest shoulder injury doesn't sap his power when he returns.
