Blake Snell Has Rough Outing In Return To Mound
5 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell (elbow) walked four of the five batters he faced in his return to Grapefruit League action on Monday before being pulled. However, he was clocked at 97-98 mph with his fastball. Snell called his performance "ridiculous" and "brutal." The good news, though, was that the left's elbow felt "great" on Monday. Snell threw just six of his 22 pitches for strikes and recorded only one out before leaving. The shaky outing might worry some fantasy owners, but the biggest takeaway is that his arm felt good. The 2018 American League Cy Young winner is more risky as a low-end fantasy ace because of his elbow issues this spring, but he might still be ready to go to start the season if he can avoid any other setbacks.
