Bill Belichick No Longer The Favorite For Falcons Head-Coaching Job?
11 months agoSurprisingly, the Atlanta Falcons have been the only team to consider former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick as a serious candidate for their head-coaching opening. The Falcons have met with Belichick twice, including a one-on-one meeting with owner Arthur Blanks, at which point the future Hall of Fame coach was considered the favorite to be hired by Atlanta. But the team is still interviewing plenty of other candidates, and ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Thursday that the Falcons' head-coaching search was still "wide open." Based on the Falcons' actions, Belichick "isn't the favorite" to sign with Atlanta, and there's a "real possibility" Belichick won't land one of the vacant head-coaching jobs around the league this cycle. "Sometimes, teams get in the way of themselves and don't make rational decisions," Schefter said.
