Bears Hoping To Get David Montgomery Involved On Monday
3 years agoThe Chicago Bears opened the 21-day practice window for running back David Montgomery (knee) on Thursday, and the team is hoping to get him at least some work on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9. That means that the Bears are planning to activate Montgomery from Injured Reserve at some point later this week or weekend. He's been on the shelf since Week 5 due to an MCL sprain, but it sounds like he'd only be playing a limited role should he appear in Monday's game against Pittsburgh. Rookie Khalil Herbert has performed well in his absence and has surpassed Damien Williams on the depth chart, earning weekly RB2 status for likely one more week. The Bears will be on their bye in Week 10.
